Mayflower Marina gives the Thumbs Up to the London Boat Show
Wednesday 20th January 2010
Despite the bad weather that prevented some people getting to this year’s London Boat Show it has been hailed a success by Plymouth’s Mayflower Marina.
Visitor numbers were down at the start of the week due to the snow and ice but as the weather improved more people were able to get to the show at ExCel London.
Mayflower Marina, which has a stand at the London Boat Show every year, saw a much increased level of interest in the South West as a cruising destination, and took a number of contract applications for its berths throughout the show.
The marina’s new season ticket was also well received. The ticket enables visitors to book 30 nights stay at the marina which can be used any time between 1st April 2010 and 31st March 2011, at a 40% discount against the usual daily berthing rate.
Charles Bush, managing director of Mayflower Marina, commented: “We exhibit at the London Boat Show every year and have always found it a very worthwhile experience. The bad weather did mean the first half of the week was quieter than usual but once the weather improved visitor numbers picked up.
“We were delighted at the interest shown in Mayflower Marina. We picked up a number of new contract applications and received a great deal of interest in the season ticket offer. The South West is becoming increasingly popular as a cruising destination and our season ticket offer clearly appeals to boat owners who are usually berthed elsewhere but whom intend to enjoy extended cruising during the season. Mayflower Marina provides the perfect base to explore the region.
Mayflower Marina has recently invested more than £2.5m into its facilities making it one of best equipped marinas in the South West. These upgrades include a new boat hoist, car park & boatyard extensions, and the construction of a new office building and, most recently, the refurbishment of the marina’s luxury bathroom facilities. The Company is midway through a programme of pontoon replacement with the most recent works completed just before Christmas.
